Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH)

The Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) project is focused on reducing health disparities among minority residents of Cabarrus County.

African American and Hispanic community members are at much higher risk of experiencing negative economic, social, and health outcomes that are associated with chronic disease. Rates of chronic disease are considerably higher among minority populations, contributing to disparities in health outcomes and life expectancy. By using policy, systems, and environmental approaches the REACH project seeks to address the leading causes of chronic disease and obesity, while promoting healthy lifestyles.

The REACH project will work to improve the health and wellness of Cabarrus County Residents by implementing strategies that increase access to healthy foods and beverages, opportunities for physical activity and improve clinical and community linkages.

Program Goals
  1. Healthy Food and Beverages
